Problem

Since 2014, Hummingbird Art & Design has been building a reputation as a unique visionary in the world of art and interior design. Recently, Owner Bunnie Wissman and son Dan have begun new ventures into the world of antiques and home decor establishing Diva Antiques and Diva Home. Though their current site for Hummingbird is functional and aesthetically pleasing, the back end maintenance has been overly complicated on the WordPress platform.

As a result, Dan is intending to remedy this problem with the Diva brand's websites. They are hoping for a far more user-friendly experience adding and subtracting products and content from the new pages, and an overhaul of the content delivery system on the existing site. They also desire to link their existing Etsy shop to the new home decor website.

Given that the brands are planning to add internet sales in the future, they will need responsive websites that can easily pivot to this model when the time comes. As these businesses are already in operation, the timeline will be accelerated and they are hoping for full launch by Mid-Late March 2022.
Solution

Justin Womack will develop a beautiful, modern website that showcases the heart of each brand, provides a content management that Bunnie; the 89yr old owner; can easily edit and maintain, as well as a smooth browsing/purchasing experience for the customer.

Justin Womack has been involved in the development of several professional website designs for a variety of businesses in North Texas, and has 10 years of web design and 17 years of graphic design knowledge to draw on for this project. Justin is also familiar with building brands and maintaining e-commerce sites, and can hopefully avoid pitfalls inherent with launching a new brand and site.

Justin will use the best practices from these websites combined with his industry knowledge to provide a stable, easy-to-use website that will help The Wissman's engage clients and drive sales.

Process
In order to build Hummingbird and Diva the high-performing websites they need, Justin Womack will walk through the following process with the owners, Bunnie and Dan Wissman.

Goals
Firstly, we'll work together to establish goals for the website and how they fit into the wider goals of the companies.

Discovery
Once we've established the goals of the websites, we'll then work to identify where the opportunities lie. This can involve some or all of the following:
Data analysis - We'll look at existing sales and web traffic for all the brands, including through Etsy, as well as the content and structure of the current site.
Comparison shopping - We'll take a look at existing websites & services that are operating in the same space and determine what works and what doesn't; this way we can avoid other people's failures as we proceed with the design & implementation.
Pain points - We'll determine where the existing process falls down in terms of capability, user-experience(UX), and scalability.

Strategy
Once we've completed the discovery phase, we'll then come up with an overarching strategy for your websites.
This will include information like what pages we'll have, how navigation will work, visual style, conversion paths, etc.
This strategy will be driven by the insights gained from the Discovery stage, and will leverage our knowledge of industry best practices.
We'll present this strategy back to you for review, iteration, and approval.

Wireframing
Once the strategy is agreed on, we'll do a basic wireframe of your new websites that will show the navigation, page layouts, copy, etc.
This will allow you to understand how the sites will look and what messages will be conveyed, and will allow us to iterate quickly until everyone is aligned.

Design
Once the wireframes are agreed on, we'll then turn the wireframes into a high-fidelity design that shows exactly how each page of the websites will look.
We will present this back to you as an interactive prototype that will allow you to click through the websites and experience them as if they were live.
We'll then iterate and make any final changes in this stage before signing off and beginning development.

Development
Once the designs have been agreed on and signed-off, we'll then develop the websites on the Squarespace Platform.
Using an intuitive builder like Squarespace makes it quicker for me to develop websites and allows for the possibility of self-maintenance more realistic for you; which means a more affordable, hands-off approach to web mastering for me. Squarespace also has its own e-commerce platform as well as integration with other popular sales tools, including an Etsy integration that will allow you to port over products, media, and descriptions as well as any reviews your Etsy shop has. This is a one-time import, not a sync, but will allow for easy transfer in the beginning stages while you are still managing inventory on both sites.

Sign-off, Launch, and Training
Once the websites are built, we'll jump on a video call or have an in-person meeting and walk you through the new websites. Once you've signed-off on it, I'll push them live at divaantiques.com and diva-at-home.com and we'll do a final testing phase to ensure smooth operation between the websites and your inventory process.
Finally, we'll do a basic training session of Squarespace and the changes to the existing site so you'll understand how to edit the websites when you need to do regular updates of information, pricing, and content.
